The Bright Sparks Awards

The 2013 Bright Sparks Awards are now open, and will close 2 October 2013.

The Bright Sparks competition, created by The Skills Organisation to encourage young people to experience electronics directly through a project-based approach, is New Zealand’s premier showcase for brilliant young minds. Since the year 2000, smart kids (aged 11 to 18) from all over the country have created wild and wacky inventions in a bid to win their age category.

Students begin with an idea for an invention in the electronics and software fields. After developing and refining their invention, they then build a prototype and enter it into the competition. Many inventions are solutions to everyday challenges the students encounter in their family and school lives.

The winners will be announced at the 13th annual awards ceremony shortly after the competition closes.

Bright Sparks is also an online club for electronics enthusiasts.  If that sounds like you, check out our forum and sign-up!
