AMSIS
15 years
With a mother who struggled to remember to regularly tend to her vegetable plots, Matt devised the ultimate solution - AMSIS, the Automated Moisture Sensor Irrigation System.
My mother wanted an automated tap system that will automatically water her vegetable plots, so I decided to use a moisture sensor and timer system to make keeping vegetables hydrated easy. And to ensure that it was impossible to get tangled up in wires, I designed the system to be completely wireless!
Designing and manufacturing AMSIS was my first encounter with a lot of different technology, including the PICAXE 14m, solenoid value, voltage regulator and wireless transmitters and receivers - and I learnt a lot!
In my spare time I enjoy inline hockey and mountain biking as well as playing keyboard and guitar. I have dreams of becoming an electronic engineer.
