Would you like to know where the spare car parks are in a parking building without having to drive around endlessly looking for one? Keith used a sonar circuit to detect free parking spaces and made a parking building to demonstrate this effective technology.

Driving around an underground car parking building with my Dad, it took forever to find a park so I thought it would be great to create something that would indicate free car parks.

The best part of this project was programming and setting up the ultra-sonic range sensor.  It was really interesting to use the debug menu while I was programming it.  However, the hardest parts were connecting the ultra-sonic sensor to the PICAXE microcontroller and using the programming to turn on the LEDs.

I would like to enrol in tertiary study when I finish school as my dream job is to become a software developer.   My Dad who is an engineer has inspired me to follow in his footsteps but to focus more on electronics.

I would love to invent something that catapults my brothers into Mars so I don’t see them again or a robot that makes my bed every morning.
