Mobile Phone TV Remote allows the user to change the TV channel with your mobile phone. The invention uses an infra-red LED to communicate with the TV.
I noticed that lots of people use their TV remotes frequently. I solved this problem using a cellphone – which is something that lots of people own.
The best part about this project was trying to decode and understand infra-red signals used by TV remotes and trying to replicate these signals with my own circuits.
It was a challenge getting my cellphone to communicate with my circuit in an elegant way. I went through many revisions of hardware and software before I could get a cellphone to control an infra-red LED.
My dad has been the biggest inspiration for me, as he got me started with programming and making up circuits. I’m still in Year 10 at school, but I think one day I would like to do something with computers, electronics, maths or science.
