How can you use your mobile or iphone when the battery has run out and you have no way to charge it? Kartik’s mPower is a product which can charge any USB device from battery power and has plenty of commercial potential to boot.
I was inspired to make this device when I was recently unable to make an urgent phone call to my parents when my mobile had run out after I had been listening to music on it. My mobile was of no use as I couldn’t charge it anywhere and I was prompted to research a gadget that could charge a mobile phone on the go.
The best part of making this device was that I learnt a lot as many of the processes were difficult. I now know how to design schematics, how to boost converters, know how linear regulators work and also know about mobile device charging circuitry, especially for Apple devices as they gave an error each time I tried to charge them with mPower.
I love learning new things such as computer and AVR programming, web design, Photoshop, researching new technology and playing basketball with my friend. I was inspired by a friend who made an alarm clock in his electronic class to take up the electronics option this year at school.
