TEMS

TEMS is a security system to be deployed in a natural disaster. It also serves as a battery bank for charging devices, and a quick and easy way to keep belongings safe. It uses open-source software as a community aid tool to keep your house safe while you evacuate.

What inspired you to create your project?

Seeing all the looting in Christchurch when the earthquake happened inspired me to create this product.

 

Are you the first tech inventor in your family?

Dad has a background in electronics and supported my invention.

 

Who influences your tech/innovation?

My surroundings are a big influence on me. When I see a problem I like to think of ways to fix it or improve it.

 

What are your plans for next year after finishing high school?

At the moment I’m planning on studying engineering at UC.

 

What is your dream job?

My dream job would have to be something in electronics, or mechanical engineering.

 

What is the best thing about ASB Bright Sparks to you?

I like the online support offered through the competition. I asked a question and it was answered quickly.

 

Would you enter ASB Bright Sparks again?

Yes, it was easy to enter and involved simple and good, clear instructions.

Very clever and practical idea. I remember our alarm system only lasted for about 8 hours without electricity we were vulnerable.
