Profile Info

Maia has created Jeté, a web application that can measure a dancer’s pointe and track their progress. Very simple to use, you enter a photo of your pointe and the program uses a code to measure the distance between your toes and the ground (the distance that shows how flexible your ankle is).

What inspired you to create your project?

I am a ballet dancer myself and I don’t have very flexible ankles naturally. I have been working really hard on it because I want to be able to go on pointe. I wanted to create something so that I could see my progress and see my improvement.

Who influences your tech/innovation?

Definitely my parents and dancers like Darcey Bussell and Misty Copeland.

What is the best thing about the ASB Bright Sparks competition to you?

It was cool to be able to learn how to code and seeing so many other people who are creative and innovative and at such a young age.
