My Raspberry Fly creates 3D models of caves or other objects. It differs from other 3D scanners in that it’s mounted on a quadcopter and can fly to places otherwise difficult to reach.
What inspired you to create your project?
Two years ago I made the Xtionberry Pi scanner. When using this I had some trouble scanning the entrances of caves and scanning some tricky spots. I decided to put the scanner on a drone to help with these situations.
Who influences your tech/innovation?
My science tutor, Ian Manders, helped bring my awareness to the problem of cave scanning four years ago. He has encouraged me along the way and helped me with my research on available software to investigate.
What is your dream job?
I would like to work on quantum computers one day.
