Shahn TaylorTaikura Rudolf Steiner School
Shahn created a wind turbine from an old Fisher & Paykel washing machine. While Shahn designed the whole thing himself, he realised that to get it made he would have to consult with a team of experts. Shahn demonstrated advanced project management skills and a single minded drive to get his project completed by effectively managing the contribution from all the team members. It wasn’t just designing, fabricating, and assembling the project that was a challenge, Shahn also had to erect the thing! He based his method of raising the device on the trebuchets from medieval times. He also needed to develop a swivel to make sure that the device pointed in the right direction.
Microturbine won 1st place in the 17+ category, great stuff Shahn!
